Casar authored Austin’s paid sick days law, led the organizing effort to ensure the statewide legal challenge to Senate Bill 4, and sponsored the ordinance making Austin the first Fair Chance Hiring city in the South.

“Freedom City” policies proposed in Austin could to eliminate unnecessary arrests by our police department, ensure police officers inform residents of their rights related to immigration enforcement and start confronting the disproportionately skewed arrests of Austin’s black and brown residents.
