Janet Realini, MD MPH, is president and founder of Healthy Futures of Texas, a nonprofit organization dedicated to reducing teen and unplanned pregnancy. A family physician by training, Dr. Realini serves as the chair of the Texas Women’s Healthcare Coalition, consisting of 62 healthcare faith, and community organizations with a goal of ensuring access to preventive care, including contraception, for all Texas women.
With the threat of Zika looming in Texas, preventive health care for women has never been more important. Fortunately, there are concrete steps the state can take to get in front of Zika and limit its impact.
