Raúl A. Ramos is an associate professor in the History Department at the University of Houston. He is the author of "Beyond the Alamo: Forging Mexican Ethnicity in San Antonio, 1821-1861," which received the 2009 T.R. Fehrenbach Award from the Texas Historical Commission.
